Bauhaus - In the Flat Field
In the Flat Field is the debut studio album by Bauhaus, released in 1980 and widely regarded as one of the defining records of the gothic rock genre. The album is dark, raw, and abrasive, combining post-punk energy with haunting atmosphere, distorted guitars, and dramatic vocals from Peter Murphy. Its sound is intentionally stark and intense, with tracks like “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” (often associated with the band’s early identity), “Double Dare,” and the title track “In the Flat Field” showcasing their blend of art-rock experimentation and gothic aesthetics. The record played a major role in shaping the visual and sonic identity of goth music, influencing countless bands that followed, and it remains a landmark release in alternative music history.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR RECORDS
Always handle your vinyl by its edges and label, avoiding fingerprints on the grooves. Before and after each play, gently clean the surface with a carbon-fiber anti-static brush or a dedicated record-cleaning solution to remove dust and debris. Store records upright in their sleeves, away from heat, humidity, and direct sunlight to preserve sound quality and prevent warping..
