Dream Police (1979) is the fourth studio album by American rock band Cheap Trick, released on September 21, 1979. The record marked a turning point for the band, blending their signature power pop and hard rock sound with more orchestral and experimental arrangements, including string sections and layered production. Originally recorded before their breakthrough live album At Budokan (1978), its release was delayed due to the unexpected global success of that record.
The title track Dream Police became one of Cheap Trick’s most iconic songs, alongside highlights like Voices, Way of the World, and Gonna Raise Hell. The album captures the band’s sharp mix of melody and aggression, with Rick Nielsen’s inventive guitar work and Robin Zander’s dynamic vocals at the forefront.
