Buena Vista Social Club is both a 1997 album and a musical project led by American guitarist and producer Ry Cooder, bringing together legendary Cuban musicians to revive traditional styles like son cubano, bolero, and danzón. Recorded in Havana’s EGREM Studios, the album featured iconic artists such as Compay Segundo, Ibrahim Ferrer, Rubén González, Eliades Ochoa, and Omara Portuondo, among others. Their collaboration captured the warmth, nostalgia, and elegance of pre-revolutionary Cuban music.
The project became a global phenomenon, introducing new audiences to Cuba’s rich musical heritage. Its success led to a 1999 documentary directed by Wim Wenders, also titled Buena Vista Social Club, which followed the musicians from the recording sessions in Havana to live performances in Amsterdam and New York. Together, the album and film reignited worldwide appreciation for traditional Cuban music and turned the ensemble into cultural icons late in their careers.

PICK UP: We only offer pick-up in store services during our regular operating hours. Due to space limitations, we can only hold on to your order for a maximum of 30 days. Orders that are not picked up during this window will be restocked and you'll receive a partial refund as store credit, valid for 30 days. No cash or card refunds will be given for unclaimed orders.
RETURNS: We accept returns within 30 days of purchase. All records must be returned sealed and complete (no missing discs or inserts, babe). Approved returns will be issued as in-store credit only, and that credit will also be valid for 30 days.
